Children’s Day Event 27th May 2024:
Investing in Ewulu Children, the Recent Children’s Day celebration in Ewulu was a resounding success, centered around the empowering
Theme: “Investing in Ewulu Children.” This vibrant event was organized by the Awele Ugochukwu Osisi Foundation in collaboration with the Thomas Honeycomb Foundation, reflecting a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of the region’s youth.
Rugby Event Highlights One of the standout features of the celebration was the rugby event, which brought excitement and energy to the community. The Growing Seed Friend Foundation (GSFF) known for it’s dedication
to youth development and sports in the rural communities together with organic farming spearheaded the organization of this event. Their efforts were supported by the Thomas Honeycomb Foundation, whose investment in the community underscores their dedication to sustainable and impactful initiatives.
Rugby Training and Matches: The day kicked off with training sessions conducted by experienced coaches who introduced the children to the basics of rugby. These sessions focused on teamwork, discipline, physical fitness and healthy eating highlighting the values that rugby instills in its players.
Following the training, several friendly matches were held, allowing the children to showcase their newfound skills and enjoy the thrill of competition.
The Ewulu GSFF junior team worn all their matches against the Lagos urban teams
with a 20 /0 victory in the finals at Chrisland International Schools Ikeja Lagos. Had two major events in Lagos in 2023 and came out silver medalists.
Community Engagement: GSFF held it’s 2nd Annual Rugby events December 10th 2023. The event drew a large turnout from the Ewulu community, with parents, local leaders, and supporters coming together to cheer on the young athletes. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and pride, as the community witnessed the positive impact of investing in their children’s development through sports.
